Frequently asked questions
If you are not sure whether we can help, how pricing works or what to send us when getting a quote, you will probably find the answer here. If not, just send us a message and tell us what you need doing.
Getting a quote
Send us a few details about the job, your postcode and anything else you think is useful. Photos are helpful for a lot of jobs as they give us a better idea of what is involved. For straightforward work we may be able to quote from the information you send. For larger or less clear jobs we may need to ask a few questions or arrange to have a look first.
Yes. Photos are often the easiest way for us to understand what needs doing and can save unnecessary back and forth. You can attach photos when sending an enquiry through the website.
For most straightforward enquiries we can discuss the work and provide a quote without any issue. If a job needs a site visit or more detailed assessment, we will let you know before arranging anything.
Handyman jobs can vary a lot even when they sound similar. Access, the condition of the existing area, materials and the amount of work involved can all affect the price. We would rather quote properly for the actual job than advertise a price that may not apply to your property. How pricing works.
Jobs and services
Yes. Not every job needs to be a big project. If you have something small that needs fixing, fitting or finishing, send it over and we will let you know if it is something we can help with.
Yes. If you have a few smaller jobs around the property, include them all in the same enquiry. This could be things such as fitting shelves, hanging items, small repairs or finishing jobs. We can look at everything together and quote accordingly.
Send us the details anyway. The website covers the main types of work we take on, but there may be other general handyman or property maintenance jobs we can help with. If it is not something we do, we will simply let you know.
Yes. Harrison’s Handyworks can also help businesses, landlords, property managers and other commercial customers with general repairs, fitting, maintenance and smaller works. For larger or ongoing requirements, send us the details and we can discuss what is needed.
Yes. We can help with general handyman and maintenance jobs in rented properties. If you manage more than one property, send us the address, access details and a description of the work and we can take it from there.
Materials and the work itself
Not necessarily. It depends on the job. You can supply the materials yourself if you already know what you want, or we can discuss what is needed and agree how materials will be handled before the work starts.
Possibly, depending on the job and what is required. If materials need to be sourced or collected, this can be discussed as part of the quote so everyone knows what is included before the work starts.
Sometimes an issue is not visible until something is removed, opened up or worked on. If that happens, we would explain what we have found and discuss any extra work or cost with you before carrying on with anything outside the agreed job.
Not always. It depends on the property, the job and how access is being arranged. If you cannot be there, mention it when getting in touch and we can discuss whether suitable access can be arranged.
Areas and availability
Harrison’s Handyworks covers Liverpool and the surrounding areas shown on our Areas page. If you are nearby but cannot see your area listed, send us your postcode and we will let you know.
Availability changes depending on the type of job and what is already booked in. Send us the details and we will let you know what availability looks like. We do not want to advertise unrealistic arrival times just to win an enquiry.
We are not advertised as a 24 hour emergency service. If something is urgent, you can still send us the details and we will let you know whether we are able to help.
Payment and booking
Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash as agreed for the job. Any payment arrangements will be made clear before the work starts.
Not for every job. Some larger domestic or commercial work may require a deposit, materials payment or staged payments. If that applies to your job, it will be discussed and agreed with you beforehand.
No. Sending an enquiry simply gives us the information needed to discuss the work and provide a quote where possible. A job is only agreed once the scope, price and arrangements have been confirmed.
Still not sure?
Send us a quick description of what you need doing and, if you can, add a few photos. We will have a look and let you know whether it is something we can help with.
